Flexjet CEO Mike Silvestro has received the Living Legends of Aviation’s Lifetime Aviation Industry Award, in recognition for his “pioneering advancement of fractional aviation”.

The longest-tenured CEO in the fractional industry, who received the award at the Living Legends of Aviation’s 20th annual ceremony, said it was a “tribute to the people at Flexjet” who embody the company’s principles.

Silvestro left his career in marketing in 2000 to join Kenn Ricci, now chairman of Flexjet, at Flight Options which offered shares in pre-owned aircraft. He then served as the company’s CEO through the 2008 financial crash, and in 2013 became CEO of the combined enterprise of Directional Aviation, Flexjet and Flight Options. He has since led Flexjet through the pandemic and has helped the company establish its sustainability roadmap through partnering with 4AIR.

Silvestro’s award comes in advance of the merger of Flexjet and Horizom Acquisition Corporation II, which will result in the company being listed publicly in the second quarter of 2023.
