Citation Encore N832R ditches in sea off Florida
A 2001-build Cessna Citation Encore, MSN 560-0585 / N832R, crashed into the sea off the Florida coast on May 24, after losing all forms of communication.
The aircraft had departed St Louis Regional Airport at 13:36 local time, bound for Ft Lauderdale Executive Airport.
After climbing to its allocated cruising altitude of 39,000 feet, all communications were lost with the aircraft.
The Citation was observed overflying its intended destination at 15:52 local time, still at its cruising altitude.
As all communications had been lost, two F-15 fighter jets were dispatched by the Florida Air National Guard to intercept the Citation.
According to local news reports, the fighter jets spotted the aircraft just before it crashed into the sea.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) online aircraft register records that the Citation was registered to Hypo Consulting LLC, a Palm Beach Fla-based business consulting group.
